Our program follows guidelines recommended by authorities in the field of early childhood education. Low child / teacher ratios and small group sizes of our programs are designed to enable teachers to spend quality time with individuals in an environment which supports and challenges their growth and learning. The rooms are organized around interest areas such as art, blocks, library, and dramatic play, with children choosing their own activities and working at their own pace. Children are provided information on what is appropriate; given clear and honest feedback; encouraged in their efforts as they make new discoveries.
Curriculum areas are incorporated into the total program and include:
Creative Art - Art, Music, Drama, and Creative Movement
Inquiry Areas - Math, Science, Health / Safety, Social Studies, and Cooking / Nutrition
Language Arts - Talking, Listening, Reading, Writing, and Literature
Physical Education - Movement and Sensory Awareness
We recognize each child's special gifts and talents and areas of needed growth. The thinking / creative processes are emphasized rather than the product. Children need to observe, explore, and question. Our program emphasizes developing critical thinking skills as opposed to memorization. Hands on activities combined with teacher's careful guidance and encouragement provide the basis for our children's enthusiasm and self-confidence as they continue to learn.
Parent involvement is a vital part of our program. Children take pride in sharing their school lives with their parents, and parents develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of their child's growth and world outside the home. It is our goal to support each family and work with parents on behalf of the young child.
